The project “Luxury Zoo” is an integrated system designed for a fictional record store. This store also produces music and hosts live music shows, serving as a hub for local artists .
The integrated system includes the primary branding for the store, a set of creative assets comprised of ad posters with postcards, a line of T-shirts with informational tags attached, and finally the environmental art elements for the store itself. The concept behind luxury zoo is the juxtaposition of the life of an artist. Artists can live very high end and luxurious live while be wild in the creation of there art. The use of the word zoo and the animas was to show the wild side of the artist. The clean vinyl record patterns and vinyl texture silhouettes are showing the more controlled part of the artist.
The thematic treatment using bold colors and animals builds on the juxtaposition concept. The use of an extreme bold type agents a sophisticated serif type shows just how different they are, this is accentuated with the extremally bright blue and red. The use of the vinyl texture in the silhouettes emphasizes the purpose of the shop without having to state it. Having the center of the records be a vibrant orange is meant to draw the eye and show that it is not and all black silhouette. The use of the cleaned and simplified patterns on top of the true patters is there to show how differently the same pattern can be viewed many ways.
